New Target – Thinking Hats on Please

24 Mar

As the Fatdog and I have now completed our target of 50 Munros has anyone any suggestions for our next 2 year stint?

So far Paul (I’m guessing from the username) has suggested 50 Corbetts which is good ’cause we’ve done 16 of them already, but is bad ’cause there’s not too many with paths…and no bogs  😆 !!!

Tommy asked if FD was in training for another 50 Munros.  I’m still trying to explain to the Fatdog that they’re not edible!

Do a Munros backpack trip. National trail, Coast to coast, and what ever comes to mind.

Choose 25 different hostelries and head up two of the nearest Munro, Corbett, Graham or geocache to each hostelry.
That’ll be fun to plan and give you loads of wet weather options…

    Martins (pl),

Thanks for the suggestions :D. I would love to do the big walks but the big pack would be a non-starter never mind trying to carry the Fatdog’s food supply 😆 .

The hostelries one has a definite appeal and quite a challenge. J who is a non-hillwalker might be persuaded for parts of that one, but the near absence of Michelin starred restaurants beyond Perth might put her off!

Keep up the good work gentlemen :D!

I think you should try to walk on as many Scottish islands as possible. Means you wouldn’t need to go to Arran or Kerrera again!!!

I’m a bit embarrassed to offer suggestions to anyone else about hillwalking. My target has been to do 25 Munros a year. I managed it the last two years – well, nearly – but so far 2009 has produced the grand total of, er, 1.

As a mini target though, have you done the “compass point” Munros? Ben Hope, Mount Keen, Ben Lomond & Ben More on Mull? Maybe in the space of six months or something? (Ben Hope & Ben More are ideal excuses to take the family away for a few days and get a wee holiday while you climb up a hill!)

Now that is an interesting one Scott…maybe I can combine this with the hostelries 😀 .

Suggestions? I’m sure you have your own ideas!

    1. Another 50 munros – am sure there are plenty of dog-friendly ones left?

    2. West Highland Way – they have support services which I’m sure could carry dog food 😆

Ken just back from a wonderful few days in Kinlochewe.
During one of our fantastic days out up Slioch we spotted what looked like the return of the 3 amigos.
They looked like they had heard about your retirement 50 not out, from from the munros and heaven only knows what dastardly deeds thay have afoot.
Please come up with a plan and back out there.
