For Pat who sent an email!

23 Oct

Pat who emailed in asked if I was liable to put up 1980’s Goth.  Personally I hated 80’s music…but maybe could stretch to a more modern Goth fav.

Hard to believe this is one of my all time favourites 😀 !

Lol, have to admit to liking this as well.Loved the Focus video you put up a while back.Rock Radio had been playing the track to death I was surprised they could play the track live, that guy has some voice.

Thought you might like that one Pat. 😀

I remember when Focus arrived in the uk – I’d never heard a vocal quite like that.

What 80’s Goth did you listen to? As you may have gathered I could easily have passed the 80’s by – musically that is, so my knowledge of that period is fairly limited.

The one band I’m really stuck on is The Sisters of Mercy.I remember seeing them on the Old Grey Whistle Test and my jaw dropping , nearly 25 years later I still go to their gigs, travelling south of the border as needs. The family can’t stand them…so they’re a permanent feature on my MP3 player, I don’t think I’ve gone on a walk or camping without them being in the soundtrack to the adventure.Apart from The Sisters it was you’re usual Rock suspects, they’re either megastars now or long forgotten.

Never listened to them Pat. Most of the stuff I put up here my family won’t listen to either 🙄 !

Off to check out the “Sisters” anyway and see what’s what.

I will report back with my verdict.

A couple of the YouTube offerings sounded a bit more New Romantic than I had anticipated…but that’s maybe due to the time period.

Intrigued so I’ll off now to check out more to see if what I listened to was representative of their work as a whole 😀 .

See if you can find Temple of Love, I think it was their biggest hit. If you don’t like it then you don’t like it, the world would be a dull place etc…
I have a few posts to catch up with I see.

Tracked it down – vocals reminded me of “Mr Grumpy” Lou Reed but with an 80’s style backing. Will now have to think up something different to put up to gauge your reaction…I do love a challenge 😆

Oh….I think I know! I need to consult with Cap’n Jack…he was into some seriously weird gothic stuff 😀 .
