Facebook Referrals – Anybody?

04 Feb

The past couple of days have seen a big rise in visitor numbers.  Hello all! 😀 😀 :D.  There has also been a influx of referrals from Facebook (for the first time) most of which seem to come from my own page which, as far as I know, has no link to the blog.  Has anybody out there got any idea what’s happening? 😆

Answers exhibiting some degree of sanity would be greatly appreciated.  😉

It would appear that your not the only one getting this.

I have no idea, apart from a few thoughts that just dont make sense when I think about them. So I have no idea. But I am curious, so will have a dig about. I hav’nt seen any referrer from Facebook yet 😦

I’ve still just got the same four misguided folk visiting mine, so nae idea, I’m afraid.

Thanks guys 😀 . I’ve never come across this before so there’s much head scratching going on.

It’s not so much having referrals from Facebook that concerns me Michael – it’s more the fact I seem to be referring from me to myself which is singularly unhealthy…especially when I can’t remember doing it!

You have as many as 4 Scott 😉 You been advertising again? 😆

Seems I’m not the only one…this one was one of the random WordPress “think you might be interested in this post” addresses sitting on the bottom of my post.

I’m counting you twice, because you’ve got the Repository as well as this place.

I haven’t been there in weeks Scott!!!

I’ve tracked a few of the non-me Facebook referrals and they have geocaching links I think from Jacqueline (one of the Scottiedogz) if my powers of deduction are correct 😀 . I can’t quite work out the logic of the referrals I appear to be making to myself though. Possibly…when someone opened the door from Facebook to the blog for the first time it created a permanent link such that every time I now visit Facebook…it pings back to the blog. Wild theory.

Ken, I have just read your last comment and so far as I am concerned it breaches your injunction regarding sanity.

Yeah…I agree Mr.P…should have kept my mouth shut rather than attempt the thinking.

Mind you I merely said that I would appreciate answers exhibiting some degree of sanity. I didn’t necessarily anticipate that anyone would provide one! 😀

I noted that you worked within your own limitations…so I won’t expect your contribution anytime soon then? 😉

I’ve no idea, but wanted to say hello! Sorry we didn’t get to see you in the Clachaig. It was a cracking weekend but definitely on the wintry side! 😀

Hi Tessa 😀 . Sorry we didn’t make it but the evening before it was looking like the words night, Rannoch Moor and snow were going to be used in the one sentence. As we were driving up in the afternoon then back sometime in the evening I reckoned it was just a bad idea. It was a shame ’cause we were looking forward to meeting up with everyone. On the other hand you all needed someone to talk about…what do you mean, nobody mentioned us? 😦 😉
