A Big Day on “The Ben” !

25 Jul

Some came in search of a new beginning.

.

Some came to walk well beyond their comfort zone.

.

Some came to decide whether this was to be the last.

.

Some came merely for the walk.

.

We all came to say “Well Done!”  SimonP.  Munros all ticked off.  😀 .

.

Welcome to the CMD Arete…

Walking the CMD Arete

“(to be continued…)”. Actually, it won’t be. It all proved too much for Ken. We stuffed the body under a cairn and drunk a toast to the fallen hero . Maisie has gone into shock and is now ghost writing the blog – badly. (You probably noticed the last bit.)

    Congratulations to you both 🙂

To be honest Simon I hadn`t really noticed much of a difference in the written content 🙂

    Oh how droll!

…and I was going to go against my better judgement and be nice. Sigh.

Oh well, business as usual tomorrow then. 😀

Well done Ken. Congratulations also to Simon upon his completion of the Munros 😀

Shame the weather didn’t seem up to much.

Thanks Martin…looks like my thoughts of retiring from the big hills will have to change after that. I’m surprised MrP hasn’t been on yet claiming I’m a charlatan and there’s nothing wrong with me 😆

Didn’t feel that much worse than I do on a normal day! 😆

It was certainly quite a day! Congrats to Simon again. We are relaxing in Aviemore now – got that spa day in!

You have done the really big hill now Ken 😆

Glad to hear you’re getting in some R&R Tessa 😀 …Saturday was quite a trial for you. Never mind, what an achievement and congrats on your 50th Munro. What a way to hit the half century!

Well I know bits of me managed to do the really big hill – though I’ll be happier when they come back to join the rest of me 😯 !

Bob, whatever you and Alex were up to at Carphin – my thanks. Nothing like a bit of divine intervention 😉

You will be credited fully – as well as being linked when I write this one up 😀

Looks like you had a great time ken despite the weather.
Really would have liked to have been there.
Cmd is to be my last and plan on a winter traverse across the arete
    cheers

    A WINTER TRAVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind you it might be easier with all the gaps betwen the rocks filled with snow, then a nice crust of ice for the crampons – probably easier 😆

    That’s the logic anyway ken.
Looks a fantastic ridge and really fancy one of those crisp ( bloomin freezing cold) winter days with clear skies and the boulders all locked together with snow

It might actually be easier with hard snow on top but then again easier to slip… eek!

Just about recovered now but have a lovely complement of bruises 🙄

Andrew – you been reading Doogz trip report on the CMD? – if not I would do so – fantastic photos. Just what you’re looking for.

So when are the bruise photos coming online Tessa? 😆 Simon’s one looks pretty good – can you beat that? 😀

Glad to hear you’ve recovered though – it was a tough day!

I think I have one bruise for each Munro I have done! No big ones like Simon’s but lots of little ones. They are fading now thankfully! No photos though, a girl has to maintain some mystique 😉

I was pleased to come away fairly unscathed 😀 . After the muscle spasms stopped I was mostly fine. Biggest problem was trying to get to sleep later – every time I shut my eyes I was still walking the route from earlier in the day! 😯
